To
promote the concept of active citizenship and educate people
about their rights, Centre for Civic Education Pakistan has
established a Civic Education Network in ten districts of the
country. With support from National Endowment for Democracy the
Civic Education Network has embarked on a Voters Registration
Campaign to persuade and guide people, particularly youth above
18 years and women, to get their names registered in the
electoral rolls.
The CCE believes that the voter registration is a continuous
process and every citizen above 18 years can register his/her
vote round the year. The CCE appealed to people to get their
names registered as voters and play their democratic role in
electing a government of their choice. It is
hoped that the efforts of Civic Education Network would help
promote a political culture based on issues and would restore
public trust in democratic political process.
