Project Citizen Pakistan launched in Lahore

Mian Imran Masood, Minister of Education Punjab addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Project Citizen Pakistan exhorted the need of community participation in improving the affairs of educational institutions. “We are open to new ideas, innovative initiatives and are willing to support reputable and serious non-governmental organizations,” he added. 

The education minister highlighted the efforts being made by the government of Punjab regarding demand driven quality education. “Government schools are catering the educational needs of majority that is poor people and improvements in their quality would bring change in the future.” 

Mian Imran Masood, said the education department has established a donor support unit to sift good proposals by non-governmental organizations to engage schools. “We liked the idea and methodology of Project Citizen Pakistan and decided to introduce it in selected schools of Lahore and Rawalpindi,” he added. Stressing the need of effective civic education, he said, “teachers and the students should exhibit creativity and make their in-puts for the solution of problems being confronted by ordinary citizens and communities.”Back
