than 500 students including 90 students from religious
seminaries (madaris) participated in the program.
Ninety students from three universities, four religious
seminaries, and F.G. College H-8 took part in the art
contest held in Islamabad. The program is being funded
by the British High Commission, Islamabad.In painting
category, Midhat-un-Nisa of Comsats Institute of
Information Technology, Islamabad (CIIT) bagged first
prize and Syed Muddassar of Idara Taleemat-Islamia got
second prize. Neha Ansari and Mahnoor Khursheed, both of
the CIIT, were given third prize while Saboor Ahmed of
Jamia Rizwia Zia-ul-Uloom and Asiya Khan of Preston
University shared the fourth prize. In calligraphy
contest, Adil Hussain of Jamia Rizwia Zia-ul-Uloom and
Waseem Ejaz of Darul Uloom Jamia Naeemia got first and
second prizes, respectively. Tayyab Nazir Awan of the
CIIT and Hammad Abbasi of the Darul Uloom Muhammadia
Ghausia shared the third position while Muhammad Hafeez
of Darul Uloom Muhammadia Ghausia secured the fourth
prize.
Speaking at the inaugural and prizes distribution
ceremony, Mr. Zafarullah Khan, Executive Director of the
CCEP, said that the CCEP has always been striving to
create healthy and creative opportunities for youth.
This project provided an excellent opportunity to
students from diverse back
grounds
and socializations from all over Pakistan as well as AJK
to share their visions and ideals about building a
peaceful and tolerant society, he added. “The work of
students gives us encouragement and hope as young people
are keen to work for collective betterment of the
society,” he remarked.
Appreciating the talent and work of the students,
renowned painter, Fauzia Minallah, said that the
wonderful work exhibited by young artists was very
impressive and shows that our youth are second to none
in any flied of life, provided that they are given
opportunities and proper training. The students’ works
depict their wonderful skills as well as their
dedication to work. She suggested that more such
activities should be arranged for spreading the message
of tolerance and peaceful coexistence as it is the
highest need of the hour.
